Central Methodist Church Launceston

Welcoming Rev. Oseias Da Silva

I am married to Jane, and we have two children Daniel and Oseias Junior. Our oldest son lives in Brazil with his wife and two sons, and our youngest lives in London. I was called to serve God’s kingdom when I was just 17 years old, and soon after I entered university to study Theology for five years—where I also met Jane. During my training I served as a student pastor for two years, and I became a probationer at the age of 23.

After graduating, I was appointed as a full-time minister and have devoted my life to pastoral ministry ever since. I have just held few secular jobs as teaching History and Philosophy in local schools. I later completed two master’s degrees—one in History and Theology, and another in European Mission and Intercultural Studies.

Before being called to serve within the British Methodist Connexion, I was the National Coordinator for Christian Education in Brazil. In 2006, my youngest son, Jane and I moved to the United Kingdom, where I have served in both market-town and urban contexts over the years. My passion is to spread the Gospel by engaging with people and helping others discover and fulfil God’s calling in their own lives.

This is the first time I am serving in a more rural setting. It is a new and enriching challenge, and I am learning to adapt myself to this reality while staying open to what God desires to do through my ministry here.
